30 things about myself

1. writing about certain numbers of something reminds me of Eminem's 10 advice -1327838688.jpg
and I like last one the most.

2. I love watching movies and "The Social Network" was the best one I've ever seen. It is flawless externally and internally.

3. Arcade Fire is the best artist in the world. Their three albums are all great, especially the first one, Funeral. One critic of BBC said The Suburbs(album released last year) is "arguably better than OK Computer", and I totally agree with him. I'm writing this listening to theirs.

4. I like riding longboard. It's like a skateboard but with long deck. I bought it during this vacation and I'm completely satisfied.

5. I believe one's taste tells a lot more thing than people think about him or her, and this is why I wrote things I like. I don't want to be a friend of someone who never watched the social network before.

6. I am an atheist and I'm proud of being an atheist.

7. I'm gonna start a venture company.

8. I can hack KMLA ONLINE easily. lol.

9. I find myself a philanthropist, but I don't like people around me. I only like people who deserve it.

10. Karl Marx's last words were "Go on, get out! Last words are for fools who haven't said enough!", and I hope I can say like that, but I don't think that's possible.

11. I believe a computer science class should be compulsory in every school. I think many inefficiency are caused by the lack of knowledge about programming and the lack of programs, and the compulsory computer class would be the best solution for that.

12. I believe in the quote "Be yourself." People try to be an idol made by media and their parents. They still don't notice their life is theirs and this fact makes me uncomfortable.

13. Number 12 ↑ sounds like "Fight Club," but I don't like the movie. I still don't get what the last scene means and David Fincher tried tell.

14. I really love "The Office." It's the only american sitcom makes me laugh enough. Other sitcoms like Big Bang Theory or How I met your mother are boring, and I can even watch the big bang theory expressionless 10 hours.

15. One of my dream is to be the youngest self-made billionaire. For now, the record is Dustin Moskovitz, a co-founder of Facebook, and he's 27 years old. Since I'm 17 years old, 10 years left.

16. The most frequent thing I do with my smartphone is reading the articles from blogs I subscribe. Reading what other's think is really enjoyable. The most fun blog from my subscribe list is http://stylebox.egloos.com/.

17. I just ignore people I don't like. I don't have enough energy to use for them. I hope people who don't like me do the same. It is a peaceful and graceful solution.

18. I am skeptical about so-called extracurricular activity of Korean high school student. The major reason is that I don't believe they'll do that without the incentive for entering a college.

19. I like color dark green and black.

20. I'm a big fan of Futurama. I like the character Fry.

21. My nickname in my middle school was the otter, simply because I slept raising my hands like otter.

22. I was born in Jeju Island and I had grew up there for 8 years. I was too young, and I would like to have experienced Jeju Island's scenery.

23. I'm gonna build schools one day and it would be an insult mentioning the name of KMLA.

24. I feel awe when I watch a grand architecture. It reminds me of both how mankind is great and how a man is trivial.

25. Rolls Royce's phantom and Lamborghini's reventon are my dream cars. The design of both two cars are just awesome and perfect in two ways, classical and modern.

26. I enjoy gastronomy and at the same time I think my sister's advice to invest yourself instead of the food, which the satisfaction will soon disappear is meaningful.

27.When I'm under the stress, I release it with the sleep. If I can't sleep under the stress, I'm gonna act like a mad man.

28. I prefer to use my personal space rather than sharing the space with other people.

29. I'm not sure i'm introverted or just I don't like people around me.

30. I'm pleased when I finish the homework.

  2. hahaha wow.. I think you are very clear about things that you really like and things that you don't..
I think #12 is interesting.. you seem to have a strong opinion about that quote. Elaborate on this: "People try to be an idol made by media and their parents. They still don't notice their life is theirs and this fact makes me uncomfortable."

  3. Hi atheist!! I liked your list because it is really clear and easy to read! I guess I am qualified to be your friend because I have watched "Social Network" for several times and enjoyed it really much. It is a great movie. Also, I hope you achieve your dream of becoming a youngest billionaire. Is it okay for me to visit your house after you become one? HaHaHa Overall, I think you are a clear and humorous person. Write about what you can do (such as hacking KMLA online) connecting it with your grand dreams :)

  4. This list seems to show who you are!

The humor in number 1 was very funny,
and personally, I'd like to hear more about number 12.
(Maybe because I somewhat agree with the idea.)

  5. Fun list, and very frank and honest, which is also very "you" from what I gather. I know I had you in my Writing class last semester, but I didn't really get to know any of you that well. Some of this I already knew from your previous work, but lots of new interesting stuff as well.

You and Tweedie are both huge fans of the The Social Network and Fincher. I think both are pretty good as well. Zuckerberg (on the other hand) probably doesn't like either of them. At some point you may want to write about Zuck and why he's an "Outlier." I think you'll gain a lot of insight from that book.

I like the quote about Marx's last words. A good hook you can use in an essay about "be yourself." Connect all those dots in this list and you have yourself a winner.

There is also some "teenage angst" in here, and I'm thinking a lot about that lately because I'm reading Catcher in the Rye (which I have to teach for the school's reading program). You have many things in common with Zuckerberg and Holden Caulfield. "School" is not for everyone, and I had the same opinion about my school when I was your age. But trust me, my school really was bad.

If you force me to learn computer programming in one of your schools, I'll slash the tires of your Roll's Royce Phantom.;) But if you can make a case for why everyone should know something about programming, I'll listen. I think only certain types of people can do it, just like certain types of people can't draw or paint. I can't do programming AT ALL.

Number 26 is also interesting. Can you symbolically explore gastronomy to illustrate your personal philosophy?

All in all, you have a sense of humor that shines through in this list. Use that when you write, and you will keep your reader interested. You say you don't like most people, which is a very honest (yet unpopular) thing to say, even if most people share the same opinion IF they are being honest. It might be true that we pretend to like a lot of people more than we actually do. It is also true that if we don't pretend, we tend not to make it as far up the social hierarchy. Malcolm Gladwell talks a lot about that in Outliers when he writes about the "smartest man in the world" Christopher Langan. It has also been said that Zuckerberg is very intolerant of small talk and socializing with the inept.

Good list! And I agree somewhat with Arcade Fire. I love the songs Intervention and Wake Up. Not sure Suburbs is better, and I'd definitely disagree it is better than OK Computer. In my opinion, a little known band called Grandaddy has two albums that are better than both - "Under the Western Freeway" and "The Sophtware Slump". If you like Arcade Fire you'll proabably like Grandaddy.

  6. Some factors of your list, for example, 9, 17, and 29 or 12 and 13, seem to be connected with each other so I think they can make a more interesting story if you elaborate them more together. For things you like or the quotes you like, it would have been more interesting if you elaborated more on why you like tham or what you learned from them. Anyway the list seems to show you well.
